Armhole

Control points

Four points shape the armhole:

• Top where the armhole meets the shoulder tip
• Front the front of the armhole curve
• Bottom the underarm
• Back the back of the armhole curve

Move or align these relative to each other, and the armhole shape follows.

Examples

• “armhole hangs straight. top, front, bottom and back armhole are all aligned”
• “boxy shoulder armhole: shoulder point extended 4cm, underarm is taken in 3.5cm”
• “boxy body armhole, underarm extends 2cm out past the shoulder tip”
• “the underarm should be 3cm lower than natural underarm point”

How to prompt

Say armhole or underarm, then the change: straight and aligned, tilted for a boxy shoulder, going out for a boxier body, or lower the underarm.
